They frequently sell out with a packed house—so plan ahead when buying tickets.

Traveling for business can be a tedious task. Between day-to-day meetings and piled up work,  a spur the moment work trip can be a bit of a pain. Thankfully, there are ways to make the traveling process as seamless as possible. Here are our top hacks for when you have to hit the road for work.

Make a Travel Checklist

Even for some of the most experienced travelers, this age old trick is still your best bet in making sure you have everything you need. When a last minute trip pops up, stress can make it incredibly easy to forget an essential (like a toothbrush… or your computer charger), so get ahead—make a list! We suggest making a document that you can easily print off every time you travel, or downloading a packing list from the good ol’ world wide web.

Have an Energy Bar or Healthy Snack Handy

Nothing is worse than when you’re hours into a trip and hunger strikes. With no restaurants in sight, what’s a hungry traveler to do? Plan ahead, that’s what! On long road trips, make sure to pack an energy bar or healthy snack, such as nuts, for when you need a boost. Buy your favorite bar in bulk and you’ll be set for when you can’t sit down for a proper meal.

Juice Up

Make sure that your phone (and other electronics for that matter) are fully charged before hitting the road. We strongly suggest buying a car charger so you can “juice up” along the way. Between using GPS, phone calls to Mom, and listening to tunes to pass the time, that battery life can go from 100 to 0 real quick. Car chargers are cheap and definitely worth the effort to buy—nothing’s worse than a dead phone.

Woah, We’re Halfway There

Gas tank running low? It shouldn’t be! We advise that you keep your tank halfway full at all times on long roadtrips. You never know when you’ll hit a 100 mile stretch with no gas station in sight… and the only thing worse than running out of gas on the highway is not making your important business meeting because you had to wait for AAA.

Yelp it Out or Phone a Friend

This one is for the “foodies” out there. A plus to traveling often is the chance to try amazing local fare! Treat yourself to a good meal once you get to your destination before hitting the hotel. Don’t waste your time on chain restaurants when you can easily do a bit of research and make the most of your time in a new city. If you have a friend in said city, ask them what their favorite dinner spot is, and if all else fails—there’s always Yelp!

Now that you have the tips for a flawless business trip, let us help you get there! Book with Savannah Car Rentals today!

Ah, Halloween—the time of year when the trees leaves change color, pumpkin spice is everywhere (we mean, it’s everywhere), and ghost stories are told a plenty. Savannah is not at a loss for any of the above—especially when it comes to tales of ghosts and haunts. From family friendly options to famous, frightening tours, get in the festive spirit this year with some of our favorite ways to celebrate Halloween in Savannah.

Take a Ghost Tour (or Two!)

Nothing says “Halloween in Savannah” quite like one of our famous ghost tours—learn about the haunted streets, houses, and ghosts of one of the most haunted cities in America. Named one of the top 10 haunted tours in the world by Trip Advisor, taking a Blue Orb tour is sure to leave you spooked. Their tours are 18+ (trust us, this one’s bone-chilling—leave the kids at home!) and requires a reservation. Board the “Trolley of The Doomed” and hear stories of antebellum mansions, creepy graveyards and more on a Ghost and Gravestones tour.  Stops include exclusive nighttime entry to Juliette Gordon Lowe’s (founder of the Girls Scouts of America) birthplace and Perkins and Sons Chandlery. See the Bonaventure Cemetery by day or night with a Shannon Scott tour. This popular cemetery (hello, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil) is always worth a visit, but particularly around this time a year. Scott’s tours are known for engaging storytelling and an extensive knowledge of haunted Savannah.

Halloween Hike at Oatland Island Wildlife Center

Looking for a fun Halloween event for the kiddos? Look no further than the Annual Halloween Hike at Oatland Island Wildlife Center on October 20th and 21st. This fun, safe and not so scary event for your little trick-or-treaters is sure to be a hit! Walk your little ghost down a friendly forest trail where they’ll receive goodies from dressed up animal characters. The event also includes face painting, crafts and concessions. The event is cash only and costumes are highly encouraged!

Wag-O-Ween

Calling all dog owners! Dress up your furry friend and come downtown for this fun trick-or treating event that benefits local pet rescue. Over 90 local businesses participate and offer treats for your dog and discounts for you! Have a competitive side? There’s a “best costume” contest between the pups, so get ready to go all out. The event takes place on October 21st from 12-5pm and cost $5 per person.

Looking for more Halloween themed events in Savannah? There are plenty we didn’t cover that are just as wonderful—Check this event calendar out for a more extensive list of October’s “to-dos.”. Need help getting to an event?  Book with us today—we’ve got you covered.

Have a weekend trip coming up? Traveling for work? Don’t let packing become a dreaded chore—our traveling tips will help you get to your destination with as little packing woe as possible! Get ready, get set, get packed!

Start with a “Packing Checklist”

If you travel often, making a checklist that you can reference when packing will save you LOADS of time and assure that you don’t forget important objects. (We’re looking at you passport and toothbrush!) Type up a document on your computer so that you can print out a new copy for every trip. Simple, easy, and efficient!  (Try this one.)

Roll Your Clothes

No matter if you’re using a duffel bag or a suitcase, the age old trick of rolling your clothes will save you space. Reserve “regular folding” for items that are delicate or wrinkle easily, and place these items on top. P.S.: A non-wrinkle tip for delicates: fold them in tissue paper.

Pack Heaviest Items Towards the Bottom of Your Bag

Particularly when dealing with rolling luggage, packing your heaviest items (shoes, hairdryers etc.) first will keep your luggage balanced. Nothing’s more annoying than a suitcase that keeps toppling over in the airport!

Plastic Baggies!

Packing plastic bags in various sizes are a cheap way to stay organized and clean. They are useful for keeping dirty or wet clothes separate, isolating cosmetics and toiletries from the rest of your luggage, or saving seashells that your kids collected at the beach!

Mix-and-Match

Pack TWO tops for every pair of bottoms. You’re more likely to re-wear bottoms than tops, so to avoid over-packing stick to this simple rule! Pack a pair of dark wash bottoms and one pair of light. For dresses, sweaters and tops, packing neutrals that you can easily accessorize is key. Remember, everything matches with black and white!

Pack a Small Bag of “Essentials”

Whether you’re taking a flight or simply going on a road-trip, having a smaller bag that you have easy access to is incredibly helpful! Keeping items such as medicines, a hairbrush, headphones, and a small snack close by will save you the hassle of rummaging through your big luggage!

Now that you’re all packed and ready to go, need to book a car for your upcoming trip? We have great options for all of your traveling needs. Book online today!

Traveling (for business or pleasure) often includes long days. Sightseeing, eating delicious foods, or sitting in long meetings can easily take up an entire day. Just because your trip is jam-packed doesn’t mean you have to derail your fitness goals. From local trails to taking advantage of the hotel gym—there are plenty of ways to stay in shape while enjoying your time away!

The Hotel Gym

Convenience is always a good thing! If you’re visiting for a business trip, you will most likely be placed in a hotel that has a complimentary fitness center. Many hotel gyms are open 24/7—so there’s no excuse to skip your workout. Wake up an hour early and slip in a quick strength training session using free-weights or blast some calories by hopping on the treadmill.

Run or Walk on a Local Trail

Traveling to Savannah? Pack your sneakers! There are plenty of amazing trails and walkways where you can get your sweat on. We highly recommend running or walking through the Savannah Historic District—particularly through the famous “Forsyth Park.” You’ll see most of Savannah’s historic landmarks and get in a great workout (around 6 miles!) Overachievers, head down to River Street for more beautiful views!

Workout in Your Hotel Room

Short on time or trying to squeeze in a workout while your kiddos nap? Download a fitness app or lookup a 30 minute full-body workout. There are plenty of free circuit workouts out there for all levels of fitness. From HIIT to yoga, and everything in between, the internet (or your phone) is an oasis of knowledge. Pick a routine that can be done without any (or little) equipment such as this one or this one. Your body will thank you!

Hit Up the Park

Exercising at a local park is a great place to workout when a gym isn’t available. Many people utilize parks to get their heartbeat up, and you should too!  Use park benches to do dips or incline pushups, do lunges across the length of the park, or find an open space and whip out a set of burpees. You’ll be surprised how fun your workout can be when you take it to the great outdoors. Don’t forget your water bottle!

Traveling can alter your everyday schedule, but these workout hacks will keep you on track!
